Rules & Need to Knows

HOW IT WORKS

-Earnings will be begin once you join "THE SQUAD"

-Membership runs from January-December

-Knocked Barrel/Off Pattern is a No Time

-Earnings are based off horse/rider combo

-We will be having 4 buckle series during the year, they will be based off average earnings of those shows. Winter (Jan, Feb, Mar) Spring (April, May) Summer (June, July, Aug) Fall (Sept, Oct, Nov) 

-At the end of the season, total earnings throughout the year will determine who advances to finals

-Top 2 money earners in each division of Futurity will run for CASH prize at finals

-Top 3 money earners in each division of Peewee & Youth will run for CASH prize at finals

-Top 5 money earners in each division of Open will run for CASH prize at finals

FORMATS

-Futurity will have 2 Divisions 

        1D: Fastest time 2D: 1 second off

        16.123 - 1D

         17.123 - 2D

-Peewee will have 3 Divisions

1D: Fastest time 2D: 1 second off 3D: 5 seconds off

17.123 - 1D

18.123 - 2D

22.123 -3D

-Youth will have 3 Divisions

1D: Fastest time 2D: 1 second 3D: 2 seconds off

15.123 - 1D

16.123 - 2D

17.123 - 3D

-Open will have 4 Divisions

1D: Fastest time 2D: 1/2 second off 3D: 1 second off 4D: 2 seconds off

PEEWEE RULES

-Contestants 10 & Under as of January 1st

-Cannot sign up for Youth or Open

-Assisting is allowed only from the ground

-Knocked barrel is a No Time

-Not completing the pattern correctly is a No Time

Hometown Barrel Squad Sanctioned Shows

-ONLY HOMETOWN BARREL SQUAD MEMBERS will be able to run for earnings at sanctioned shows

-Contestants will have 1 minute to enter the arena once their name has been called

-Unruly people or horses may be asked to leave

-Sidepots will be sanctioned at other shows (not produced by Hometown Barrel Squad)

-If entering sidepots you must pre-enter by show start time

example: Show starts at 6:00pm, you will NOT be able to enter sidepot AFTER that time

-We all know life happens sometimes and with horses anything can happen...if you pre-entered and horse has came up lame or you are unable to make the show, the refund window will be by the show start time

-Refund will not be issued after the show has started

example: Show starts at 6:00pm, if you ask for a refund any time after, refund will NOT be issued

-How the sidepots will work at other shows...you will simply roll your time from designated class. Example: Peewee time will roll to Peewee sidepot, Youth time will roll to Youth sidepot, Open time will roll to Open sidepot

-Winnings will be mailed out once Hometown Barrel Squad receives the results of the show.

-Checks will be VOIDED after 30 days

FINALS

-December 14th, 2024

-Will be held at Alltech Arena at The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY 

-100% PAYBACK! *for finalist*

-Contestants will compete against their own division for the prize money & title

(1Dvs1D, 2Dvs2D, 3Dvs3D, 4Dvs4D)

-If a contestant is in more than 1 division with same horse, contestant must compete in higher division

-If a contestant is unable to compete in finals, we will move down to next contestant

-More details will be released closer to date!

 

Subbing & Ties

-Contestants may have ONE sub (per horse) for the year per a VET Document and/or Bill of Sale

-Contestants cannot sub a horse with another horse that already has earnings with same rider

-If there is a tie in earnings for buckle series the contestant who won the most amount of money at one show will be awarded the buckle.

-If there is a tie in earnings the contestant who won the most amount of money at one show will advance to finals.

-If tie at finals for #1 spot, prize money will be split between contestants

 

Hometown Barrel Squad Year End Awards

-Horsemanship Award: This award will be presented to the contestant who displays a great attitude and treats their horse with respect no matter what happens in or out of the arena. 

-Sportsmanship Award: We all want to win, of course! But this award will be presented to the contestant that helps, encourages, and may even put their competitors needs before their own.

-Horse of the Year Award: This award will be presented to a horse that stands out on their own...which doesnt always mean the fastest horse. The horse who had a come back, the horse that takes care of his/her rider, or just the consistency of the horse.

*Squad members will be asked to nominate & vote for these awards*
